Reflections from students and graduates who have served and learned alongside District 65.

• "My internship with the NU/ETHS Partnership Office strengthened my interest in creating more accessible and supportive pathways into STEM and higher education. Through supporting WiSTEM and WiENG initiatives, as well as the STEAM Design Thinking & Innovation course, I learned more about the importance of community building, mentorship, and the design of inclusive educational experiences. It also helped me build skills in communicating and collaborating with different stakeholders — including students, educators, mentors, and alumni."

• "I became a restorative justice circle keeper with the Moran Center this winter, working with a team of ETHS and Northwestern students and staff to run restorative justice circles with 4th graders at Oakton Elementary. I learned so much about how to support today's youth and their educators through the complex challenges they face right here in Evanston. Our training sessions and reflection meetings helped me learn the theory behind restorative justice and unpack the work — which is confusing and hard, simple and complex, at the same time. This experience gave me a truer idea of what education looks like, and of the work I might be getting into."
